Are There Cheaper Products?
The difference between using common cheap insulation products to insulate walls, floors and ceilings and using the very best 'Gold Seal' standard is probably only a few hundred dollars. The cost to insulate an average house is quite small when you consider that from the moment it is installed it starts saving you money and generally never requires attention or replacing. The average bathroom and kitchen cost around $10,000 or more each. It requires maintenance and will probably be replaced sometime after 5 years. Why skimp on quantity or quality insulation materials when it can save you money by using our 'Gold Seal' range of products and services?

What Really is Insulation?
A Retro-Spec, we want our clients to be fully informed about their choices. We continue to advance the local market by bringing the latest new local and overseas technologies. How Does Insulation Work?Insulation acts as a barrier against heat loss and heat gain. This is very important in ceilings, roofs and walls. Generally speaking, insulation falls into two basic categories.
Obviously, in Tasmania, most of our efforts to insulate, revolve around keeping the cold out of your home and retaining the warmth you already have inside. If you can keep the warmth inside your house, rather than losing it throught he walls, ceiling or roof of your house you do not need to use as much energy to heat your home. That means spending less money on your energy bills! That's good for you and the environment! In other parts of the country, the reason to insulate is to keep the heat out of your home and retaining the cool air already in your house or to improve the efficiency and thereby reduce the running costs, of cooling systems. So again, reducing energy use means lowering the amount you spend on your energy bills and reducing your impact on the environment! |
Can Insulation Really Save You Money?Yes! By using good quality products like our 'Gold Seal' range of materials, you can not only save money, but with the introduction of Energy Star ratings for houses, insulating your home may even add value to your home.
According to a recent news release by the Tasmanian Building Control Branch of the Department of Justice, from 1 Jan 2010 all building designs for new or additions to houses require 5 Star energy efficiency measures in the design. Most other states have similar requirements. Additionally, the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) has decided that, before selling a house, owners must provide a current energy rating to prospective owners. The news release also states that lower ratings may reduce selling prices. Furthermore, all Australian States and Territories have been given until 1 May 2011 to adopt the 6 Star provisions. More About House Energy RatingsYou likely have seen 'Energy Star' ratings on electrical appliances. Well, House Energy Rating stars are similar. The ratings are based on the Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme (NatHERS) and assesses the potential thermal comfort of homes on a scale of zero to 10 stars. The more stars, the less likely the occupants need cooling or heating to stay comfortable.
From these facts, you can see that insulating your home is a sound economic and environmental decision. Â |

That may appear to be a simple question to answer, but once a home owner starts looking to insulate their new or existing home, it quickly becomes apparent that there a many factors involved. With a properly insulated home, you can reduce your energy costs for both heating and cooling, as well as providing the added benefits of a healthier and more comfortable living environment all year round.
